Reddit Outage Triggers 15,000+ Reports Before Quick Fix

Reddit experienced a brief but widespread outage on April 6, 2026, leaving tens of thousands of users unable to access the platform.

According to outage tracking site Downdetector, issues began around 2:30 p.m. ET, with reports quickly spiking as users encountered errors across the site. At its peak, more than 15,000 users had reported problems by approximately 3:00 p.m. ET.

Reddit acknowledged the disruption shortly after, posting an update on its official status page around 2:49 p.m. ET. The company stated that it was experiencing an elevated level of errors and had begun investigating the issue.

Within about 15 minutes, Reddit provided another update, confirming that it had identified the root cause and implemented a fix. The company noted that it was actively monitoring the platform to ensure stability following the resolution.

By just before 4:00 p.m. ET, the issue had been officially marked as resolved. Data from Downdetector showed a sharp decline in outage reports shortly after, with activity returning to near-normal levels by around 6:00 p.m. ET.

While the outage was relatively short-lived, it highlights how quickly disruptions on major platforms can impact large user bases—and how closely users monitor service reliability in real time.

This is a developing story and may be updated as more information becomes available.
